Week of January 7:
There has been some chatter about a new blog launched to defend the pharmaceutical industry called BigPharmaRealPeople (the site goes so far as to list Big Pharma’s enemies across the top). Not a whole lot of information about who’s responsible, or who’s providing any funding for the site, but one of the goals stated reads:
To point out that corporations are not faceless, evil giants that take advantage of the individual. Corporations ARE individuals. Individuals that come together and work for a common goal of helping others.
Also:
Novartis CEO Daniel Vasella takes Pfizer’s Lipitor for his high colesterol, as opposed to his company’s Lescol. But Vasella made a point to mention his case (he tried Lescol twice but it didn’t agree with him) to illustrate the importance of patients having a choice.
Gardasil is getting a reputation for packing quite a punch. One would hope it doesn’t persuade girls to hold off on the shot.
